Reception and Communications Coordinator

6 month contract, 30 hours a week
Wednesday-Saturday, 9:30am – 5pm
$19.00 per hour

Position Overview:
Martha Street Studio is looking for a friendly individual to ensure efficient operations, effective communication and a welcoming environment for all visitors and members. The ideal candidate will be a team player, capable of handling a variety of tasks and responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation of our studio.
This position will play a key role in maintaining our work environment, supporting artists, coordinating events, and handling day-to-day administrative tasks.


Reports to: Executive Director

Qualifications:
● Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with studio users.
● Excellent communication skills and ability to work one on one with members / clients / artists.
● Detail oriented.
● Experience in office management, reception, or communications.
● Proficiency in social media, InDesign, Photoshop, WordPress, and MailChimp.
● Excellent written and spoken English. French skills are an asset!
● Strong organizational skills and ability to work both independently and in a team.
● Interest in the arts, particularly print and photography.


Key Responsibilities:

Reception
● Maintain office supplies and liaise with vendors.
● Keep communal spaces tidy and organized.
● Welcome visitors, handle inquiries, and manage member services.
● Track Memberships and assist with studio rentals
● Encourage the involvement of members
● Assist with billing, data entry, and other administrative tasks, including quarterly mail outs.

Communications
● Create and manage content for social media and update the website.
● Develop and implement communication plans to promote Martha Street Studio activities and services.
● Write and distribute newsletters, press releases, and promotional materials.

Event Coordination:
● Coordinate public events with appropriate staff
● Support the coordination of visiting artists and sales events.
● Assist with logistics for events, including occasional evening and weekend attendance.


– Wage: $19.00 per hour.
– Paid public holidays and 6% vacation pay
– Access to workshops, and discounts on digital printing services.
– Free access to training provided by the organization.
